A post-race Veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had sustained an injury to the offside hind leg in running. Trainer was advised that he would be required to obtain a Veterinary clearance prior to the gelding being permitted to race again. |

Was slowly away after jumping awkwardly with its head in the air. On returning to the saddling enclosure the gelding was found to have bled from both nostrils in running. Stewards acting under the provisions of AR.53A.(4)(b) advised Trainer that the gelding would not be permitted to start in any race for a period of three months, and would be required to gallop 1000 metres to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing.

A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which failed to respond to its rider's urgings at any stage of the race and tailed off, did not reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer said that the gelding would now be spelled. Nevertheless he was advised that prior to racing again the gelding would have to perform competitively in a barrier trial. |
