Rider questioned re performance. He said he was instructed to ride positively out of the gates and take up a forward position, however after travelling a short distance, he was unable to improve to a forward position as runners to his outside had crossed and he had to race midfield with cover. He said the filly raced greenly throughout and may not have been comfortable on the soft track conditions and that it may have got its tongue over the bit and choked down, and he had recommended to connections to experiment with the addition of a tongue tie for its next start.

Rider questioned re tactics -stated rode mare along early stages to maintain position inside WALTZ IN FLIGHT however failed to muster speed so allowed WALTZ IN FLIGHT to cross forward not long after jockey (WALTZ IN FLIGHT) steadied to allow VICTORY PARADE to cross tolead, resulting in SHEZA HOTTI settling further back than anticipated.

Mr Guy added the only explanation he could offer for the geldings poor performance was that it was second up after a lengthy spell. A post race vet exam revealed it to be lame in the off fore leg.

When questioned as to the tactics adopted, App. M Murphy stated that from the wide barrier he was instructed to jump the gelding out and settle where comfortable. App. Murphy stated that when caught wide in the early stages he attempted to press forward to cross those runners inside him but was unable to do so resulting in being positioned 4 wide without cover for the majority of the event. Stewards advised App. Murphy that he had erred in his riding in the early stages in that he should have elected to restrain the gelding in an effort to obtain cover
