J. Orman could offer no tangible explanation for the horse's disappointing performance other than that the gelding may not have been suited by racing in a more forward position in today's event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery and a very high heart rate. Stewards will follow up with trainer R. Lipp in the days following the event regarding the horse's post-race recovery.

Raced wide throughout. Returned to the enclosure in a distressed state. Apprentice T Brooker reported that the mare was fractiou pre race and proved difficult to load. The horse, in her opinion, did not show its customary early speed and did not travel comfortably at any stage during the event. After pulling up she was of the view that the horse may have had a breathing issue during the event as it became distressed post race. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Questioned re tactics - jockey stated intention to go forward due to minimal speed in race. Rode aggresively early but horse then race ungenerously in early stages and was placed 4 wide early. With no speed in race chose to ride forward to settle outside leader. Failed to respond rounding home turn and proved dissapointing. Trainer expressed dissapointment in performance and will advise stewards of vet exam to be performed after event.
