Rider said he was instructed to get cover, however he was of the opinion horse would be better suited if ridden closer to lead. Racing manners were detrimental to performance. |

When questioned regarding the poor performance apprentice explained that his mount travelled comfortable in a prominent position throughout however when placed under pressure in the straight his mount failed to respond and was disappointing. He attributed the poor performance to the gelding's heavy impost of 60kg and added that in his opinion gelding did not appreciate the hard track conditions. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any significant abnormalities.

Near the 900 metres over raced and had to be steadied off the heels of another runner which shifted in slightly. A short distance later continued to over race and had to be shifted wider on the track to avoid the heels of the runner in front and in doing so made heavy contact with the runner to her outside. Apprentice jockey reported that gelding over raced in the early and middle stages and refused to settle. Apprentice jockey further added that the gelding felt awkward in its action on pulling up. A post - race vet exam of gelding did not reveal any abnormalities.
