Began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. For some distance passing the 600 metres the gelding hung in badly despite the efforts of its rider, continually crowding the running of another runner. Trainer will be told that prior to racing again the gelding will have to perform satisfactorily in a trial.

The gelding then continued to follow the field and jumped the outside running rail after passing the winning post and made heavy contact with the rail. Trainer M Oates was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to the gelding racing again.
