She said that she was able to obtain a position at the rear of the field and despite putting her mount under pressure from the 800 metres, it was nevertheless disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Connections indicated that the gelding will now be sent for a spell.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards reviewed the start to ascertain if the gelding had been denied a fair start. It was established that as the start was effected the gelding lifted its off hind leg which was momentarily caught on the back barrier partition, resulting in it missing the start by a considerable distance. Stewards were satisfied that the gelding’s barrier manners were the result of it missing the start and that it had been afforded a fair start.
