When questioned re ride, Rdr explained intention to lead, and although gelding began well, it was not able to clear inside runners, which were pushing forward early and consequently obliged to race wide without cover-added gelding began to feel the ground over the latter stages and did not feel right in its action. Tnr confirmed tactics & noted gelding being obliged to race wide without cover may have had an affect on its finishing effort. A post-race vet exam revealed a slow recovery.
