Began awkwardly & shifted in. Shortly after start bumped, then hampered when tightened. Near 600m carried wider. Betting drifter QOP $5.5-$10. Rdr reported instruct to settle handy but was unable to do so as gelding did not begin well-added gelding is very sensitive & failed to travel at different stages of race, even with genuine tempo. A post-race vet exam failed to reveal any abs. Tnr since reported gelding had returned to stables in good order, and intention is to assess gelding over the coming days and consider current preparation.

Bumped on jumping. When questioned re riding from the 700m, rdr std when the horse he was travelling outside quickened passing the 800m, his mnt came off the bridle so he shifted in to trail it. Std on straightening his mnt was under pressure & failed to respond. Std when trying to shift outwards near the 300m he had not quite established a run, so elected to shift back inwards near the 250m, but was required to check off heels near the 200m, & after losing momentum his mnt was not able to close off over the final 200m. A post-race vet exam revealed no abnormalities.
