Stewards questioned apprentice T Germaine regarding the performance. Apprentice Germaine said that he led as instructed and he felt that the gelding travelled well until the back straight where WASHER wanted to charge forward. When he tried to steady his mount it dropped the bit and began to the weaken and dropped back. Apprentice Germaine added that in his opinion WASHER may have found the 1640m distance too far. |

Caught wide early before being restrained to the rear of the field. Held up and unable to obtain clear running after rounding the hometurn. A post race Vet examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

He added the horse had been working well and he felt the reduction in weight, the surface here today would assist his horse and he expected a forward showing today.
