The saddle on the gelding shifted back shortly after the start, placing Apprentice in difficulty. The saddle shifted again on entering the home straight, when Apprentice attempted to improve his position, and shifted in abruptly near the 200 metres, inconveniencing another runner. Whilst stewards noted that the saddle had shifted back and placed its rider at a disadvantage, nevertheless Apprentice was reprimanded and advised to show greater care for his fellow riders in similar circumstances.
