When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance, rider stated that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages, however failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the home straight and, in his opinion, was disappointing. Trainer explained that whilst he was not entirely disappointed with the horse’s performance, he was of the opinion that the gelding would be suited to longer distances than that of today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant findings.
