Examined by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers after brushing the fence when leaving the mounting yard and cleared to start. Bumped with another runner at the start and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the performance, which was below market expectations, apprentice D. Graham advised that after losing ground at the start she was forced to race wide throughout the event, which in her opinion resulted in the gelding failing to respond when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

At a subsequent inquiry App N Keal explained that near the 400 metres he felt the gelding become unbalanced and short distance later was of the belief NUSKEE PARKER had broken down and therefore elected to restrain the gelding. A post-race Vet examination failed to reveal any abnormality. Trainer P Sexton was advised NUSKEE PARKER would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
