Apprentice Tom Orr was queried in relation to his mount leading which was in contrast to the geldings usual racing pattern. Apprentice Orr advised that he was instructed to ride neutrally in the early stages, however soon after the start he was concerned that he may be trapped wide so therefore elected to progress forward. Apprentice Orr further added that once he progressed forward, he applied minimal pressure to his mount and did not intend to lead however due to the lack of genuine speed to his inside, he was able to find the lead comfortably.

When questioned in relation to the seemingly poor performance apprentice A Meissner stated that the mare had travelled well in the early and middle stages, however when asked for an effort JELLISHOT had failed to respond. She further added that in her opinion the mare may have come to the end of it’s preparation. Stewards intended to have JELLISHOT undergo a post-race veterinary examination, however was errantly missed by the race day veterinarian due to other duties.
