Stewards permitted the gelding to race without the cross-over noseband despite it being part of the horse’s gear. Trainer D. Forster was fined $100 for failing to fit all gear to the horse. Shifted out abruptly shortly after the start, and then shifted in abruptly when being corrected by its rider.

When quest re perf. app stated mount travelled comfortably in forward posn in early & middle stages however failed to sprint app h/turn & was disapp in run to line. P/R vet exam found no ab's. Tnr advised in following days geld had a tendon injury & would be retired.

Rider explained that mount was coming back in distance, failed to muster early speed and was hampered by weight. On home turn shifted out to improve, but dipped twice in straight. Found to be lame in off foreleg. Trainer undertook to have further examination. Vet certificate required. Trainer R Simpson reported that x-rays of ME MYSELF AND I revealed the gelding to have a fractured sesamoid in the off foreleg. The gelding would now be spelled.
