Questioned re tactics - intention to lead outright, thought the other leader drawn inside may begin slowly and attempted to press forward early to attempt to obtain lead. Horse drawn inside was able to muster speed and maintain position to his inside so he continued to ride forward to obtain lead near 1000m. Had he realised other runner was going to continue to ride forward to maintain position to his inside he would have taken hold to sit off that runner instead of continuing to ride forward in early stages.

When asked to comment on the performance, jockey Beau Appo advised that due to the fast early tempo he settled further back in the field than he had anticipated and, as a result, the horse did not travel well in the early and middle stages. He added that when placed under pressure the gelding failed to respond as he had anticipated and proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
