When questioned regarding the gelding leading today’s event, rider stated that she had been instructed to be positive on the mount and was obliged to lead in order to avoid being caught and without cover. Trainer confirmed the instructions but added that she was surprised to see the gelding leading as she didn’t think it would have the required pace and expected him to settle in the first half of the field. Trainer was reminded of her obligation to notify the Stewards’ of any change in tactics.
