Rider stated that his mount failed to muster sufficient speed to lead the event and was obliged to settle three wide, without cover, in a handy position throughout the middle stages. Rider stated his mount only ground to the line after a tough run on heavy track conditions. A post race veterinary examination of the filly did not reveal any abnormality. To spell.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had sustained an injury to its hind end which could include its pelvis or any associated musculature. Trainer K. Kemp undertook to have his veterinary surgeon examine the mare in the coming days, and would report back to Stewards the results of that examination. Mr. Kemp was advised that the mare will require a veterinary clearance prior to next racing.
