Behind the barriers prior to the start the gelding took an awkward stride, stumbled and dislodged its rider S. McGovern. After travelling half the course the gelding was regathered in the mount yard was ordered by the steward to be a late scratching at 1.40pm. The gelding underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no abnormalities were found.

When questioned regarding the horses performance rider C. Jokic explained the gelding travelled well until entering the home straight but then failed to respond to her riding and was disappointing. Trainer M. Young was disappointed with its performance and advised she would monitor the horse’s progress going forward and would advise Stewards should anything come to her attention that may have had a bearing on its performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
