When questioned regarding the poor performance, Apprentice A Ross stated that her intentions were to lead but after beginning well, runners to her inside all showed pace and as a result, WICKED EXPRESS could not cross and was trapped wide. She added that after being trapped wide for the entirety of the race, WICKED EXPRESS failed to respond to her urgings in the straight and proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
