Began awkwardly. Shifted in near the 1000m, hampering another runner. Apprentice E. Smith was issued with a severe reprimand. When questioned regarding the tactics she adopted, apprentice advised that she had misinterpreted the instructions issued by trainer , which were to allow the gelding to settle in the early part of the race so that it would enable it to finish the race off strongly. Trainer confirmed that those were the instructions given and that a miscommunication had taken place.
