Burns was questioned regarding the apparent change of tactics on the mare today. He stated that at its previous start the mare had got back in the field and he instructed his rider today to have it positioned more forward but did not expect it to be racing near the lead. Mr Burns was reminded that he must report any change of tactics to stewards no later than half an hour before the race.

Fradd stated that he had been instructed to settle the horse behind the leaders but was prevented from taking up this position when MAGNUS COR maintained a position one off the rail. He added that he did not wish to restrain his mount behind MAGNUS COR near the 800m as he was mindful that when OF THE DAY beat FINAL ZERO at Doomben on 12 August, it took almost the entire straight to run that mare down, and with FINAL ZEROs light weight today, he was of the belief that he would be giving that mare too much start.
