Pixie Hollow J. Lloyd dropped his whip near the 800m, before regathering it soon afterwards. This resulted in J. Lloyd becoming unbalanced in the saddle and losing ground. J. Lloyd was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts to the end of the race. When assessing the matter, stewards were comfortable that jockey Lloyd’s actions had not materially affected his mount’s placing in the race. Ipswich 27/12/2017

Cider Apple Bumped on the hind quarters near the 700m and became unbalanced. Ipswich 27/12/2017
Moreska Sword Jumped awkwardly and was tightened for room and lost ground. Trailed the field throughout and finished a distant last. Trainer S. Kendrick confirmed his disappointment in the performance and was accepting of the fact that the horse was not entirely suited to the distance, however was concerned that the horse could not muster any early speed and stay in touch with the main body of the field. He indicated that he would have veterinary tests performed in the coming days, the results of which he would report to stewards. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Race 3
Doom Stewards sought an explanation from J. Lloyd regarding the riding tactics he adopted in the early stages and whether an opportunity existed to race outside of the eventual winner ENTERPRISE MISS. Jockey Lloyd stated that he was instructed to ride the horse with cover and get it to settle in the early stages as it raced well when ridden this way at its most previous start. He added that he was satisfied to be trailing ENTERPRISE MISS approaching the home turn, however when ENTERPRISE MISS sprinted he was left flat-footed and shifted to the inside in the home straight and made steady ground. Theatric Raced keenly during the middle stages. From the 500m and until near the 300m was held up when unable to obtain a clear run. Rider reported that the filly raced keenly in the early and middle stages and this may have had an effect on it finishing the race off. Wigglesworth Held up in the early stages of the Gold Coast 23/12/2017
Basara Began awkwardly. Rider reported she was concerned with fillys action over concluding stages and as a result was reluctant to ride it out to the end of the race. Vetted - no abnormalities. Gold Coast 26/08/2017
 
Race 6
Red Scarlet Shifted to the inside of ELSARAY on straightening but was then disappointed when that horse shifted in slightly. Then shifted out into running between ELSARAY and BRONZED VENOM and was again checked when disappointed for that run when BRONZED VENOM shifted in slightly away from WHO’S YOUR DADDY. Shield Wall Change of tactics. Connections advised that the horse will not be ridden aggressively out of the barriers in order to take up a position midfield or worse. The horse was ridden accordingly. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and continued to be held up until the 200m when disappointed for a run and had to be steadied.
