When asked to comment on the disappointing performance, jockey Fancourt indicated that the horse raced quite greenly throughout the event, shifting both in and out when racing outside the lead. She was of the view that the disappointing performance could be attributed to the horse having its first start on a very rain affected track as the horse did not travel comfortably when asked for an effort after leaving the 600m. Stewards will interview trainer Mr T. Gollan, who was not present at the meeting.

When qst concerning his riding of gelding passing 800m, & in particular why the runner to his inside was able to improve between his mount & another rnr rdr std that gelding was inclined to lay out away from the leader &, when joining the course proper, that runner shifted in toward the running rail. Rider advised that at this stage he attempted to shift his mount inward and hold another in a pocket, however, the gelding was inclined to hang out and was obliged to race three wide thereafter.

When questioned, L. Ross explained that the mare was having its first start for his stable today. He added that he had previously nominated and accepted for Ipswich on Saturday 13 January but unfortunately the mare injured itself in transit to the course and was a late scratching on that occasion. He added that subsequent to that occasion the mare had won a trial at Deagon very comfortably and he had expected a forward showing from her today. The explanation was noted.

Noted whilst gelding had won previous 2 starts the opposition was somewhat inferior to today's race.
