Race 2
Epic Rant Held up during the early stages of the home straight and was obliged to shift out to secure clear running. When questioned as to the tactics adopted which appeared in contrast to the gelding’s most recent starts, Jockey M Cahill stated that he was instructed to allow the gelding to begin on its own terms and when placed wide in the early stages he elected to restrain to obtain a position with cover towards the rear of the field. Was It Worth It Overraced in the early stages. P. Hammersley was questioned regarding his decision to shift out around STANLEY soon after straightening rather than improve to the inside of SCOUTABOUT. P. Hammersley explained that he was of the view that the better part of the track was three to four horses wide and for this reason he elected to shift out rounding the home turn, however, when STANLEY shifted out under pressure in the home straight, he was forced wider on the track than he had anticipated. Naked Leaving the 1200m had to be steadied from the heels of GO DIXIE after being taken in by LETS GO CHAMP. A short distance later was again steadied from the heels of PONYTALES, shifted out and raced wide from that point onwards. Gold Coast 17/03/2018

Mishani Hustler Slow to begin and then bumped by CRAIGLEA RUBBLE. A short distance later was inconvenienced for some distance when awkwardly placed inside the heels of YOU KNOW THE ONE which was taken in by MITTERE. Raced wide throughout. Upon returning to scale Jockey J Lloyd reported that he did not feel that the colt was entirely comfortable in its action over the final 400m. Helarocity Slow to begin. Had a tendency to lay in in the early and middle stages of the event. Sunshine Coast 18/03/2018
My Little Flicka When questioned, L. Ross explained that the mare was having its first start for his stable today. He added that he had previously nominated and accepted for Ipswich on Saturday 13 January but unfortunately the mare injured itself in transit to the course and was a late scratching on that occasion. He added that subsequent to that occasion the mare had won a trial at Deagon very comfortably and he had expected a forward showing from her today. The explanation was noted. Doomben 03/03/2018

Final Zero A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had cardiac arrhythmia. Connections were advised that the horse must officially trial and that a veterinary clearance and the results of an ECG for the horse must be produced prior to it being permitted to race again. Setoga Had to be checked from the heels of GREY MISSILE near the 500m when that runner shifted out when not clear. Doomben 03/03/2018
Coral Bay Slow to begin. Over-raced during the middle stages. Leaving the 500m had to be eased from the heels of GREY MISSILE which shifted out to improve. Gold Coast 17/03/2018
Copywriter Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and performed below market expectations. Jockey J. Orman reported his mount did not travel comfortably at any stage of the race and was very disappointing, adding that the horse laid in under pressure in the home straight and raced awkwardly over the final 200m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be making a respiratory noise indicative of a possible respiratory infections and a poor post-race recovery. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that the horse must undergo endoscopic examination and he must furnish to Sunshine Coast 22/10/2017

Saxton Rock When qstd re performance rider stated this his mount travelled keen in the early and middle stages. Rider added that he caught wide in the middle stages and approaching the 600m permitted his mount to stride along to work into its finishing effort, where the colt only went to the line moderately. Villa Carlotta Was restless in the barriers & was slow to begin. After being ridden along after the start, then raced keenly in the early & middle stages. A post race vet exam did not reveal any abs. Kembla Grange 06/02/2018
Dream Master When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, jockey J. Lloyd was of the opinion that the gelding travels quite keenly in its races and whilst he was restraining his mount to slow the tempo, the gelding may have resented that. He was also of the view that the gelding would be better suited racing on a firmer surface than that of today’s event. Ipswich 07/03/2018

Karakabeel Upon returning to scale Jockey M McGillivray reported that from the awkward barrier he was obliged to pressure the gelding in the early stages to obtain a position closer to the fence which resulted in him racing further forward than anticipated. As a consequence, the gelding then over-raced during the middle stages and when racing close to the heels of DENBERN passing the 600m, he was obliged to shift out to improve earlier than he otherwise would have liked. Mr Bellagio B. Stewart reported that the gelding sweated up badly en route to the barriers and was under pressure from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from significant heat stress.
