Near the 900m inconvenienced by REGULAR when that runner was over-racing and shifted out. When questioned as to the performance Jockey A Allen stated that after suffering interference passing the 900m he was obliged to race wide for the remainder of the trip. Jockey Allen added that whilst obliged to cover extra ground he was still somewhat disappointed in the filly’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities at the time of examination.

Rdr std that his mount raced a little keenly with the moderate tempo, but once into clear running on straightening failed to finish the race off. Added in his view the Gelding may be better suited over 1100m and kept freshened for its races. A post-race vet exam revealed the gelding to be displaying muscle soreness behind. Trainer advised the Gelding would now be spelled.

He indicated that from the wide alley he had been instructed to settle the horse at the tail of the field and did so, adding that the pace of the race caused his mount to be off the bit for the entire race. He was obliged to niggle the horse throughout, and he was able to save ground when rounding the home turn by improving to the inside. He added that the horse found the line well under riding in the home straight.

He indicated that he had been instructed to obtain cover, which he attempted to do from the wide barrier, however felt he was going to be forced to position the horse further back in the field than he would have liked and therefore at approximately the 1400m elected to press the horse forward and see if he could obtain cover in in a midfield position. He was unable to do so and was obliged to race 4 wide from that point onwards.

Frtht std overraced badly in the lead, refused to settle & was left without finishing effort as consequence. Soon after straightening was crowded.
