When questioned regarding the tactics adopted today, in particular racing forward, apprentice stated that he rode his mount along in early stages in an effort to obtain a position midfield with cover. App added approaching the 1200m his mount was caught wide without cover and as the pace of the event was only moderate he elected to work forward into a position outside the leader rather than overly restrain his mount in an effort to obtain cover.
