Hampered at the start. Raced three wide without cover throughout. M. Hellyer reported that the gelding was making an abnormal breathing noise on returning to scale. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have lacerations to the near foreleg and near fore cannon. The veterinary surgeon reported that he had been informed by the trainer that the horse returned to the enclosure with its tongue over the bit.
