As jockey R. McMahon’s arrival on course was delayed, D. Griffin was substituted as the rider of the horse. When asked to comment on the performance of the horse, jockey Griffin indicated his mount raced quite greenly in the early and middle stages after he had been instructed to allow the horse to settle out of the barriers. He indicated that, in his opinion, the gelding finished the race off strongly despite laying in form the 400m onwards. He added that trainer Mr B. Baldwin suggested he would now look to spell the horse

Whist NASHVILLE SKYLINE did not lose significant ground in this incident, the horse did receive tightening for an extended period and due to this, stewards felt that jockey Spinks, rider of MYSTERIUM, had ridden in a careless manner and issued him with a reprimand for his actions. Held up for clear running from the 400m until approaching the 100m.

Mr Lloyd advised that the colt never travelled comfortably throughout the event and when placed under pressure from the 600m immediately came off the bit and failed to respond to his riding from that point. Trainer C. Munce advised that he would monitor the post-race recovery of the colt, however, at this stage it would be his intention to continue with its current preparation. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
