Stewards questioned jockey K. Yoshida in relation to the tactics adopted and, in particular, the reason for him shifting out to a 3 wide position leaving the 1000m. Jockey Yoshida explained that he had not been provided with any specific instructions, however as he had ridden the gelding at its most recent start, he was of the opinion that it is a one-paced horse and better suited to make a longer run. He went on to say that, for this reason, he elected to shift out to a 3 wide position and ride the gelding along leaving the 1000m. Stewards noted the explanation.
