When over-racing near the 1200m was restrained from the heels of SO YOU SHOP which shifted in. B Thompson rider of SO YOU SHOP was reprimanded under AR131(a) for permitting his mount to shift when insufficiently clear. After being held up for clear running from the 500m made contact with JOY’S REWARD on a number of occasions when attempting to shift out to obtain clear running.

Rdr re that was instructed to ride the gelding in a rearward position and he did not pressure his mnt after leaving the barriers in an endeavour to comply with his instructions, however, a short distance after the start mnt commenced to overrace and after attempting to restrain the gelding for a short distance he then was obliged to allow it to improve when it refused to settle. As a result, raced further forward than anticipated.
