Passing the 800 metres, when the pace steadied, had to restrained from heels and as a result hung in tightening THE POWER OF ONE. Rider M Hellyer reported STAR CHANCE raced greenly throughout and hung in for a major part of the race.

Post race vet examination found the horse to have a poor post race recovery and was found to be making an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer T Gollan advised stewards that an endoscopic examination would be performed on the horse and he will report the findings to stewards.
