Second Island Throughout the early & middle stages, raced fiercely, got its head up on a number of occasions when rdr was endeavouring to obtain cover. The mare, however, would not settle & ultimately was allowed to improve when racing wide with cover to lead after the 500m. Post race vet rev mare to be slow to recover. Kensington 17/10/2018
Crackneck Rider reported his mount hung out throughout event which resulted in it making home turn wide & in straight not being able to be tested when it continued to hang out. Trainer was advised gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again. Trainer advised gelding would now be spelled. A post-race vet exam revealed no abs. Ours to Keep fractious in the barriers, was removed, examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. Raced three wide without cover throughout. When questioned as to the performance jockey C. Williams noted that the gelding was obliged to race three wide without cover throughout but nonetheless was disappointed in its inability to finish the race off as expected. Jockey Williams added that the gelding felt sound throughout but noted that it was in an agitated mood today, as evident by the gelding being fractious in the barriers. A post race vet examination revealed no significant findings Gold Coast 12/01/2019

Acqume Slow to begin. Commenced to overrace for a short distance after passing the 700m. Gold Coast 05/01/2019
Cymbalism Slow to begin and then had to be checked from the heels of BRILEE ROSE, which shifted out. This resulted in CYMBALISM settling at the rear of the field, which is in contrast to its usual racing pattern of leading or being on the pace. Doomben 23/01/2019

Supersonic Boom Bumped with MASTER BAYLEE on a number of occasions between the 1000m and the 800m and then when caught wide in the early stages was ridden forward but was unable to cross runners drawn to the inside and raced three wide without cover throughout. Beaudesert 01/01/2019

Hannah's Song When questioned regarding the performance of the filly, rider stated that her mount, which was first up today raced keenly in the lead and set a solid early tempo. Rider added that outside of genuine early tempo she was at a loss to explain the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Trainer advised that in the subsequent days Hannah’s Song had shown signs to have jarred up and would report back to stewards of the racing plans for the filly. Ballina 18/01/2019

Leroytheconqueror Began awkwardly. Buffeted on several occasions when attempting to shift out in order to improve after passing the 800m whilst racing in a reward position on the rail. Had to be steadied approaching the 500m when awkwardly placed on heels. Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight. Ipswich 24/01/2019
Mountbatten Trainer questioned re improved performance - explained first start for her today and has had a history of bad barrier manners, which in the short time she has had it she has addressed as best as possible. Balboa Rocks When questioned regarding the improved performance today, trainer Mr D. Hansen stated the gelding has a good second-up record and had expected improvement today. He also added the horse performed well over this distance at its previous starts. Sunshine Coast 26/01/2019

Cellargirl tood flatfooted at the start and lost significant ground. Trainer K. Schweida was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to the mare racing again. Gold Coast 12/01/2019
King Lear Slow to begin. J. Lloyd said connections wanted to race off the pace, but the gelding overreacted when being steadied shortly after jumping and got its head up and got further back than they had anticipated. He said he was inconvenienced severely when another runner broke down, resulting in him having to take evasive action passing the 600m. He added that he then rode the gelding along in the straight, but it failed to respond and he was not entirely happy with its action so he eased it down in the latter stages. Kawaikini Shortly after start was steadied when crowded between rnrs Raced keen in mid stages. When q'd rdr std approaching the 400m he noted that rnr was shifting out & he improved to obtain that vacated position. Deep Image When asked to comment on the performance of his mount, jockey J. Byrne indicated he was disappointed with the performance of the horse and failed to respond to his riding from the 400m. Trainer D. Vandyke indicated that in light of today’s performance he would send the horse for a spell and was of the opinion that the gelding failed to run out a strong 1600m and it would be his intention that in the horse’s next preparation he would limit its runs to 1400m or shorter.
