Rider questioned re tactics in early stages where from outside barrier he rode forward and led race, in contrast to horse’s most recent racing pattern - explained tendency to be slow to begin and for this reason rode with vigour early. Added when it began well and showed early speed rather than be caught in a midfield position wide elected to stride forward to take the lead when runners to inside did not show an intention to hold that position. Trainer confirmed not intention to lead but to be more positive and take up midfield position. Explanations accepted.
