Stable representative Mr M Eggleston advised stewards that the mare had come to the end of its preparation and would now be sent for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination of KEDAH revealed a slow post-race recovery and also to be striding slightly shorter in front.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider stated after beginning well, he allowed the gelding to roll forward and settle in a position on speed. He said after travelling well approaching the final turn, the geldings run peaked near the 300m and failed to find the line strongly. Rider added that in his opinion the gelding does not run a strong 1600m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.

Adding that when approaching the winning post he desisted from riding out fully being aware of rnrs to his outside, and not to cause interference.

On return to scale a protest was lodged by J Orman, rider of second placegetter KENNY BOY against first past the post MISS GOT (L Tarrant), alleging interference near the 100 metres. After taking evidence from connections of both runners and viewing the patrol footage, Stewards found that at a point leaving the 100 metres MISS GO shifted out under pressure bumping KENNY BOY which resulted in that runner being taken off its line. Trainer D McColm when questioned in relation to improved performance of the gelding which was having its second start, stated that at its first start the gelding drew awkwardly and wide, was restrained from the gate and raced greenly throughout. He further added with the addition of blinkers and more favourable barrier was able to established a position closer and finished the event off well. Approaching the 600m improved close the heels of KATANAROCK before shifting wider.
