Correct weight was delayed enabling stewards to view the footage of the start to ascertain if MCCOVEY COVE had been afforded a fair start. After viewing the footage, it was established that the gelding lowered its head as the start was affected and as a result lost significant ground. In the circumstances stewards were satisfied that, if not for the horses own actions, MCCOVEY COVE had been afforded a fair start and correct weight was given on the semaphored numbers.

Std when racing fiercely he was obliged to steady mnt to avoid heels. Added near the 700m mnt shifted in and away, and consequently struck the running rail and became unbalanced.
