When questioned regarding his vigour in the straight rider stated he believed the gelding had peaked on its run prior to this point and that his mount was not travelling comfortably with him particularly in the shifty going and for this reason he elected not to fully test his mount in the straight. Rider reminded of his obligations to report such instances upon return to scale. Trainer expressed dissatisfaction with the vigour of the rider in the straight and reported that the gelding had pulled up well subsequent to the event.

When questioned regarding the poor performance, rider R Goltz stated that his mount travelled well throughout however when asked for effort, GRAZIANO failed to respond and went to the line in a disappointing manner. Trainer K Kirwan stated that GRAZIANO had worked well since its win last start at Esk and could offer no excuse for the poor performance today. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. Trainer K Kirwin was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of GRAZIANO in relation to its competitiveness.
