Sagatona  Rider reported that the filly was a little tardy to begin and after endeavouring to ride the horse, it commenced to buck for a few strides. He said despite this he continued to urge the horse, however it refused to stride and was reluctant to stretch out and for this reason it was retired from the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be significantly lame in the near foreleg. Tnr. was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance for SAGATONA and it would be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial before starting again.

Zindzela  When questioned regarding the poor performance of the mare, Jockey stated that instructions were to ride the mare in a rearward position, in accordance with its established racing pattern. He said that whilst racing at the tail of the field he was caught 3 wide when the mare pulled hard and refused to settle. He added that he was then obliged to race in that position throughout and when placed under pressure after straightening for home the mare failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Echo Gal  Bounded in air on jumping away and lost ground. Checked from heels near 700m. Rider stated mare was slow to being at most recent start and showed no confidence in handling the going between the 600m and 400m and did not finish the race off. Trainer's rep stated stable would resort to barrier pratice in an effort to improve its barrier manners and confirmed mare had previously shown a dislike for rain affected tracks. Karakuchi  Rider reported horse blundered in going near 600m and did not pick up from that point. Post race vet failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer stated horse had previously shown a dislike for rain affected tracks. Pienkna  Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn. Disappointed for a run upon straightening and was then obliged to shift out considerably before obtaining clear running over the final 150m. Cramming  Raced wide in the early stages without cover. Stable representative Mr G. Thompson was questioned regarding the improved performance of the horse. Mr Thompson stated that the horse was not suited at recent starts racing over shorter distances and he was confident of a more forward showing as the horse races well at the Sunshine Coast over 1800m.

Questioned re performance - rider stated able to hold lead from indside gate, travelled satisfactorily until home turn where failed to respond and was dissapointing. Rider was pleased with work leading into race. Post race vet failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stable rep expressed dissapointment in performace and confirmed filly had worked well leading in. Filly required to trial prior to next start. An inspection of rider's gear post race revealed no issues. Post race vet found to be lame near fore.
