He indicated with the step up to 1400m he had been instructed to not overly pressure his mount in the early stages as the horse has had a tendency to overrace. He added that he had managed to get the horse to relax and travel comfortably throughout the event, however after being somewhat held up for clear running rounding the home turn, was presented with clear running approaching the 200m, and when asked for a response, the mare did not quicken as he had anticipated.
