Jockey T. Williams was fined $300 for using her whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m. Stewards questioned trainer Mrs C. Hickey regarding the improved performance. She indicated the horse was slow to begin at its most recent start and was unable therefore to obtain the lead which, in her opinion, the horse races bests when able to lead. She felt that this had a detrimental effect on the horse’s performance. Mrs Hickey further added that she had slightly changed the horse’s training regime in the lead up to today’s event.

Whilst noting strong tempo in early and middle stages was nonetheless disappointed in the gelding’s failure to finish off race as expected. Vetted - slow post race recovery. Trainer reported scope in following days failed to reveal any abnormalities. Thought strong tempo in early and middles stages had a detrimental effect on the gelding's performance.
