Held up for clear running approaching the home turn and into the early part of the home straight.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider stated after beginning well, he allowed the gelding to roll forward and settle in a position on speed. He said after travelling well approaching the final turn, the geldings run peaked near the 300m and failed to find the line strongly. Rider added that in his opinion the gelding does not run a strong 1600m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
