Rider reported that the mare failed to handle the heavy 9 track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off fore, poor post-race recovery, and a laceration on the mare’s off hock. Veterinary clearance required prior to next race start.

When questioned regarding the filly settling outside the leader today, rdr stated that he was instructed to have his mount ridden in the first half of the field. He said that in the early stages he rode his mount positively in an endeavour to comply with his instructions, however, from his wide barrier, rather than risk being caught wide and without cover, he elected to allow mnt to continue forward where he was ultimately able to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1800m, which was further forward than anticipated.

Rdr std mnt travelled well in mid-field position, however became at a disadvantage when crowded for room rounding the home turn. Added mnt may have been feeling effects of tough first up performance. A post-race vet exam revealed no abs. Tnr agreed with view of rdr, adding it will be his intention to step the filly up in distance next start and endeavour to have it ridden more conservatively. Tnr rep subsequently reported satisfaction with post-race condition and advised intention is to continue current preparation.
