After racing in a rearward position for the majority of the event, rider C. Bayliss desisted from pressuring his mount over the final 300m as he was of the opinion that something may be amiss with the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer W. Kuskopf was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

Slow to begin and then shifted out abruptly bumping FREEDOM FACTOR. Passing winning post on first occasion laid out slightly and tightened for room to the inside of FREEDOM FACTOR. Shortly after again became unbalanced when restrained passing the 1600m. After passing the 1000m commenced to weaken and finished a distance last. Vetted - no significant findings.
