When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey A. Allen stated that after beginning well and obtaining a leading position without applying much pressure, he was then challenged for the lead by SECRET SPIRIT and when attempting to hold his position, the mare was under pressure from the 600m and failed to finish the race off and weakened over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.

Jockey L. Cassidy reported to stewards he was disappointed with the overall performance of his mount. He indicated it had been his intention to settle midfield if possible, however was obliged to settle further back. He indicated that rounding the home turn the horse had improved well into the event, however after being bumped by another runner passing the 400m, then failed to respond to his riding and, in his view, was disappointing in the run to the line.

Ljung reported that the filly was under pressure for the majority of the race, and it was unable to maintain a forward position. She added that, in her opinion, the filly would be better suited when racing over further distances than that of today’s race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
