Further added that whilst he was alongside the eventual winner in the straight, he was of the opinion the best part of the track was to the outside of the home-straight and the filly was unsuited by improving to the inside of runners.

Contacted gate with offside hip when leaving the saddling enclosure. On arrival at barriers was examined by Veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Rider B Thompson explained ROMALETTE was inclined to over-race in the early and middle stages of the event and obtained cover near the 800 metres, however when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding. A post-race Veterinary examination of the mare revealed no abnormalities and a swab sample was taken from ROMALETTE.
