Was kicked by another runner behind the barriers and was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. When questioned in regards to the tactics adopted rider S Cormack stated that since beginning from the good barrier elected to be more positive and allowed ELGIN to stride forward. He added that the gelding hung out rounding the home turn and in the home straight and did not feel comfortable in its action. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding did not identify any abnormal findings.
