Jockey went on to say that when placed under pressure for the remainder of the home straight the gelding ran on only fairly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

When questioned regarding todays performance, Apprentice A Jones, in the presence of Trainer J Dann stated that her mount travelled well in the early and middle stages however when rounding the home turn she was momentarily held up on the heels of PHABENI and when OUR ROCKY improved to her outside, she was obliged to shift to the inside to obtain clear running. She further stated that she elected to ride her mount hands and heels to the line as she didn’t feel comfortable using her whip due to her lack of experience. Stewards noted her explanation.
