When questioned regarding performance, jockey reported that he wasn’t overly disappointed with the performance as after the incident at the start he was forced to race in the back half of the field. Trainer T Cotsiopoulos when asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance advised that at its most recent start the mare did not appreciate the tighter turning Toowoomba track and also noted that the mare does not travel well which after that run, necessitated a short spell. Ms Cotsiopoulos stated that following that disappointing performance that she expected that today would be its last run but would now reconsider its immediate future. Stewards noted her comments.

GET ON BOARD - Trainer J Field was fined $100 for the late rider notification LR67. Tightened for room and clipped heels and blundered near the 200m. At a subsequent inquiry, Jockey N Masuda, the rider of MARECAT pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR 131(a) in that near the 200m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of GET ON BOARD resulting in that runner being tightened for room, checked and forced across the heels of LIPEANSASS and as a result clipped the heels of that runner and blundered.
