When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding rider stated that her mount has a tendency to pull and she was instructed not to ride it along in the early stages for fear it would not settle in the middle stages. Rider stated from the wide barrier she was instructed to allow her mount to begin and settle where comfortable. Rider stated despite her instructions her mount ended up settling further back than she anticipated and whilst not pressured early, it pulled between the 1800m and 1000m.

When questioned re settling more forward, rdr std instructed to ride conservatively, however from outside barrier he had mentioned to connections that if he began well he would use his initiative & attempt to settle more forward due to anticipated slow pace. Std after riding positively from barriers, mnt responded well whereby was able to obtain a forward position. Added he intended to cross to the outright lead, however when another rnr maintained its position in the lead, he elected to position mnt to its outside whereby it travelled well at a moderate tempo. Tnr rep confirmed instructions.
