When questioned regarding the gelding leading in today’s event, Apprentice M Potgieter advised he was under no specific instructions but was of the belief that his mount would settle midfield. He added after beginning well and in his opinion a lack of genuine early tempo, settled more than forward anticipated. He further added his mount overraced in the early stages and failed to finish its race off. Trainers representative stated that although he gave no specific instructions, he was surprised to see SOLDATI leading in. He added that he would provide more specific instructions in future.
