When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey stated that the horse did not seem to be entirely comfortable throughout the race, failed to run on as anticipated and was disappointing. Trainer explained that, whilst he was disappointed with the gelding's performance today, the horse had proved to be inconsistent, nevertheless he was expecting a forward performance having regard to its track-work leading up to todays race. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormalities.

Jockey Stewart explained that he was instructed to ride patiently, and rather than race wide, he elected to obtain a position at the rear of the field from its wide barrier.
